Three lead workforce staffing personnel with Amazon recently met with the Marshall County Board of Supervisors to lay out plans. The company opens its doors June 28. Melissa Crite, Colleen Tueth and Robin Kenny are enthusiastic about working and hiring staff for the distribution center. It is locating in the Chickasaw Trail Industrial Park. They announced entry level jobs (Tier I) in operations will start at a minimum of $15 an hour. Amazon will also hire managers prior to opening date in various capacities at the center. Crite also said Amazon has a program to hire American veterans because they already have leadership skills learned in the military. “We take an active park to put military to work,” she said. ” We will post our team jobs in Human Resources. I hope to see some people in Marshall County on our team. Military personnel should visit Hiring Our Heroes online for those who are transitioning and for active service members.
Crite said people are hired starting out as high school graduates or with GEDs. They get on-the-job experience on site for the first two years. They will trained and certified. Two basic requirements must be met. The applicant must pass a background check and also pass a drug test. “Apply. If you can pass a drug test and a background check and have a good attitude, you will get hired,” Crite said.
Amazon typically hires one month out from launch in a new location. The company will hold hiring events and will make appointments for people to come to the selected site. The company expects to be hiring from the end of May and through all of June with launch June 28. They will also partner with some high schools and send out teams to talk about opportunities at Amazon and career progression.
