A new industry is locating in a spec building behind McCormick in the Chickasaw Trail Industrial Park. Dubbed Project Yellow Rose, Design Group International manufactures and packages holiday gift wrapping products for retail outlets, according to Justin Hall, executive director of the Marshall County Industrial Development Authority. “You get in the holiday spirit real quick when you go to that facility,” Hall said. “It is starting up fast.”
Design Group is taking applications in order to expedite hiring of the staff needed to get the Marshall County facility up and running. The company will hire entry-level forklift operators first. “This is a busy time not to get ready for the holidays.” Hall said. Entry level jobs will run from $12 to $16 an hour. Design Group needs material handlers, forklift operators and, then finally, highly skilled technicians to operate the heavy machinery. “They are taking bulk paper and cutting and packaging it for retail,” Hall said.
The facility is located at 817 Gateway Global Drive, north of the McCormick building. The Chickasaw Trail Industrial Park is located in the corner of Marshall County near the Tennessee line.
Chickasaw Trail Industrial Park has now surpassed $1 billion in capital investment since 2012, according to Hall. More than 4,000 new industrial jobs have been created in the park since 2012, as well.
